Associate Advisor

Job Description Breen Wealth Management is a planning-focused advisory firm serving individuals and families through comprehensive financial planning and fee-only investment management. We are a small, high-touch team built on long-term relationships, thoughtful advice, and a strong presence in our local community. We are looking to add an Associate Advisor who is early in their career and committed to developing into a well-rounded financial advisor within a team-based environment. Role Overview This is an advisor development role where you will learn financial planning and client relationships first, with the opportunity to grow into business development over time. You will work directly with experienced advisors, participate in client relationships, and develop deep financial planning expertise. Over time, you will grow into a client-facing advisor role with increasing responsibility and long-term career potential within the firm. Career Path: Associate Advisor to Client Advisor to Wealth Advisor Advancement is based on demonstrated capability, client relationship responsibility, and contribution to the firm. Responsibilities Assist in preparing financial plans and client analyses Gather and organize client financial data Support development of planning recommendations (retirement, tax, insurance, etc.) Conduct investment and planning research Prepare materials for client meetings Client Experience & Relationship Support Participate in client meetings in a learning capacity Assist with client follow-up and implementation of recommendations Help maintain strong client relationships through responsiveness and attention to detail Implementation & Operations Assist with account setup, maintenance, and servicing Maintain accurate client records within CRM and planning software Support portfolio implementation and internal processes What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree required 1–4 years of experience in financial services, banking, or a related field Strong interest in becoming a long-term financial advisor Strong communication and interpersonal skills Detail-oriented and organized Coachable, curious, and willing to learn Professional presence and good judgment Ability to work well in a small team environment Licensing (Series 65/66) or CFP track is a plus but not required. Ideal Candidate We’re looking for someone early in their career who is committed to becoming a great financial advisor over time. The ideal candidate values learning the craft, building long-term client relationships, and growing within a structured, team-based environment. They are coachable, professional, and patient enough to develop their skills before focusing on income or business development. Not an Ideal Candidate This role is not likely to be a fit for someone seeking immediate focus on business development or rapid independence early in their career. Location and Work Arrangement This position is also based in our Petaluma office during standard business hours and involves working closely with our team and clients in person.
