Summer Camp Activity Specialist (Dodge YMCA)

The Dodge YMCA is seeking a Summer Camp Activity Specialist who will plan and execute recreational or arts activities and provide supervision to campers. The position requires preparing and delivering age‑appropriate fine or performing‑arts, sports, or STEM instruction during the Summer Camp program, which operates Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in July and August. Key Responsibilities Ensure the health, safety, and well‑being of participants by providing appropriate supervision at all times. Plan and implement meaningful, structured, age‑appropriate activities and special events in fine or performing‑arts, sports, or STEM. Teach participants fundamentals of their chosen field, building skill and confidence. Perform scheduled assignments such as arrival/departure duty and lunch duty. Support planning and implementation of all camp activities, including learning initiatives, field trips, in‑camp events, and culminating performances. Work cooperatively with all program staff. Promote an inclusive, welcoming, respectful environment that embraces the diversity of all participants. Create and maintain a strength‑based, youth‑focused atmosphere sensitive to those with learning, emotional, or behavioral differences. Maintain accurate program documentation (attendance, sign‑in/out forms, behavior reports, incident reports, accident reports). Communicate the YMCA’s core values and Summer Camp goals to staff, participants, and caregivers. Develop positive relationships with parents and guardians through regular communication about strengths and growth areas. Attend all required pre‑camp training and actively participate in training sessions, meetings, and special events. Adhere to all Department of Health, YMCA, and funder standards, expectations, and regulations. Desired Skills & Experience High School Diploma or equivalent (college credits and formal education in the specialty area preferred). Minimum of two years of experience working with youth, specifically in the specialty area. Formal certification in the specialty area required. General knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Access, Adobe PageMaker, and Photoshop preferred.
