Instrumentation and Controls Engineer

What You'll Do In The Role Assist in the preparation of reports, technical memorandums, recommendations, and cost estimates Attend to details in preparation or review of calculations, drawings, and specifications Perform 480 VAC designs, detailed conduit routing, P&IDs, load studies, power distribution, lighting, process control, short circuit studies, single line diagrams, elementary diagrams, MCC layouts, electrical specifications, logic diagrams, control schematics, and assist in field construction and start‑up activities Conduct quality management reviews of instrumentation and control designs Design, model, simulate, and test complex electronic circuits, subsystems, and systems Design PLC SCADA networks for medium and large systems Design radio telemetry SCADA systems using microwave, spread spectrum, licensed MAS, cellular or other radio technologies Design SCADA network block diagrams Develop P&IDs, control strategies, control panel layouts, input/output point lists Develop scopes of work for I&C systems, networks, and projects Develop preliminary and final construction cost estimates for I&C Evaluate materials and systems, identify equipment and instrumentation, and prepare work instructions for manufacturing Identify alternatives, evaluate each, and determine appropriate actions to move forward Identify opportunities for automation to support continuous process improvement and plant safety initiatives Maintain, update, and troubleshoot advanced operator interface equipment Manage the instrumentation portion of medium to large‑sized instrumentation and control projects for water and wastewater treatment facilities Participate in continuing editing and development of I&C master specifications Perform PLC programming, troubleshooting, and program documentation maintenance Perform Variable Frequency Drive installation, programming, and troubleshooting Prepare ISA data sheets and instrument sites Prepare specifications for instruments, computers, networking equipment, PLCs, and associated components Prepare technical memorandums and reports Specify industrial fiber optic networks, systems, and components Assist in the development and review of project specifications Develop project‑specific specifications for unusual or unique instrumentation applications Monitor scope, schedule, and budget and control the work to the project plan Perform factory and site inspections Prepare and review submittals Provide input to bid and proposal activities Understand, implement, and enforce company and client technical standards on projects Qualifications You Should Have Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation and Control Engineering Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical power and control systems PE license is a plus Electrical experience working on water/wastewater related projects is a plus Experience with Allen‑Bradley SLC500, PLC5, ControlLogix 5000, 160 Drives, Powerflex 40/70/700/755 Series Drives, Kinetix Servo Systems, Panelviews, DH+, RIO, DeviceNet, Ethernet, GE, WonderWare, LG, AutoCAD Willing to travel 20% of the time – domestic and international travel #J-18808-Ljbffr Electrolytic Technologies
