Looking for a Cable Technician with 5+ years experience installing, terminating, patching & splicing Fiber optic cables and Copper (CAT5/6) Ethernet cables. Must be able to work in an active working environment with little or no disruption to customers. Cable Technician will be working in a Classified secured environment with the need to be able to obtain up to Top Secret/SCI clearance. HOW A CABLE TECHNICIAN WILL MAKE AN IMPACT: Troubleshooting issues with Link Runner AT2000 cable testers. Installing cabling infrastructure under floors or in ceilings. Ensure cables are properly labeled and identified. Complete work orders using Remedy online system. Patch network cables in Telecommunications Rooms on multiple levels of classifications and networks. WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED: Requirements and skills: Proven work experience as a Cable Technician or similar role. 5+ years experience installing, terminating, patching & splicing Fiber optic cables and Copper (CAT5/6) Ethernet cables. Must know how to terminate fiber optic cables of various types (Single-mode vs. Multi-mode OM3) and know fiber optic color code. Knowledge of fiber optic connectors LC, SC, MTRJ, ST, etc. Must be able to use a RJ45 crimper & punch-down tool for terminating copper as well as T568B color code. Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds. Must be able to work under floors and on ladders on a daily basis. BICSI certifications are preferred. Must be willing to travel CONUS & OCCONUS up to 10% each year. Must have a valid Passport with expiration greater than 6 months. Security Clearance: Must have a current/active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI status. Location: MacDill AFB, FL Citizenship Required: US Citizenship required due to the required Top Secret clearance status. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
