Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, located in Atlanta, Georgia, is the busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic and aircraft movements. Atlanta VA Medical Center (VAMC), a Joint Commission, designated medical facility sits on 26 acres in Decatur, Georgia—just minutes from downtown Atlanta. The main medical center is a level 1A tertiary care facility providing patient-centered healthcare via an array of comprehensive medical, surgical, geriatric specialty services, as well as state-of–the-art diagnostic testing throughout 14 sites of care. With 466 inpatient beds, including a 120-bed Community Living Center, a 40-bed domiciliary, and a 21-bed Residential Treatment Program, the Atlanta VAMC is uniquely positioned to serve the healthcare needs of more than 130,000 enrolled Veterans living in 50 counties across northeast Georgia. The Medical Center, also a teaching hospital, provides hands-on and state-of-the-art technology, education, and research to residents in collaboration with Emory University School of Medicine and Morehouse School of Medicine.

RN Med/Surg - Responsibilities (listed are included but not limited to)

• Providing professional nursing care principles, practices and procedures required to assess needs of patients.
• Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, their desired effects, and complications of their use; recognizing adverse signs and symptoms which are not always apparent and to reach promptly in emergency situations including the implementation of life-saving procedures.
• Provide counseling, guidance, and health instruction to patients; and-
• Identify disease entities in order to recognize complications and therapeutic interventions required.
• Provide professional nursing duties according to established professional nursing principles, practices, and procedures in a Med/Surg or PACU settings, assessing patient's physical, emotional, spiritual and socio-cultural needs.
• Demonstrate skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient serves; provide pre-operative and post-operative nursing care to patients.

RN Med/Surg - Qualifications

• Completed courses for nursing from an accredited program approved by either the Commission for Education in Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
• A current license in at least one state, territory, or commonwealth in the U.S. or the District of Columbia.
• Must have certification through the American Heart Association for Basic Life Support (BLS).
• A minimum of three years' direct patient care experience.
