Field Service Technician

Field Service Technician Location: Columbus, OH Company Overview: Technical Diagnostic Services (TDS), a TechPro Power Group company, based in Fort Worth, TX, delivers industry‑leading service solutions for over 25 years to the Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, and other Industrial end markets. We are seeking highly skilled Field Service Technicians to support a large Data Center project in the greater Columbus, Ohio area. Key Responsibilities Conduct Acceptance Testing for electrical equipment in Data Center facilities. Safely use hand tools, power tools, metering/testing equipment, and precision instruments. Collaborate with internal team members and customers/end‑users to complete projects within defined timelines. Follow safety protocols and adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines. Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used. Qualifications Expertise in switchgear maintenance, troubleshooting, and breaker installation. Strong electrical aptitude and understanding of power systems. Knowledge of LDL, L2, L3 inspections and testing procedures. Proficiency in secondary injection testing of breakers and PT/CT wiring installations. Familiarity with bus installations, meter configurations, and control wiring. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics. Hands‑on experience with testing and maintenance tools (multimeters, megohmmeters, etc). Strong communication skills and ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience with daily reporting and documentation of work performed. Willingness to travel to various project sites within the U.S. Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols. Required Qualifications Minimum 3–5+ years of experience in switchgear installation, testing, and maintenance, preferably in industrial, utility, or data‑center environments. Knowledge of industry‑specific electrical code, regulations, and related safety standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E). Project Details Project: Data Center Site – Columbus, OH area. Schedule: Full‑time Monday – Friday. Pay: Based on level of expertise (over time available). Per diem: $150 per day for 7 days per week. Mobility: $1,000 each way for transport. Climb ladders, staircases, step stools; stand, walk, sit, and operate vehicles for extended periods. Bend, stoop, crawl and work in awkward positions or confined spaces for several hours. Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including intense heat/cold, muddy, and wet environments. Perform precision tasks with instruments and fittings.
