Medical Assistant - CMA / MA

Job Description

Job Summary:
The CMA / MA provides comprehensive clinical support in an urgent care setting, performing advanced patient assessments, procedures, and administrative duties to ensure efficient clinic operations and quality patient care. This role requires urgent care experience and the ability to handle a wide range of clinical tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Perform patient intake, including obtaining and documenting medical history, vital signs, and administering age-appropriate assessments.
• Assist providers with procedures such as nebulizer treatments, cast removal, DM foot screenings, and point-of-care testing.
• Prepare exam rooms, sterilize equipment, and maintain stock of medical supplies ensuring a clean and organized environment.
• Collect specimens, perform testing, and ensure proper labeling and transport of samples per protocol.
• Educate patients on health topics, discharge instructions, and follow-up care, supporting patient understanding and compliance.
• Support clinic flow by transporting patients, managing documentation, and providing cross-coverage as needed.

Qualifications:

• Possess a high school diploma or GED; certification as a CMA or completion of an equivalent clinical training program.
• Current BLS certification; clinical competency completed within 3 months of hire and every 3 years.
• Urgent care experience required, including proficiency in adult and pediatric assessments and procedures.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, EMR systems, and clinic protocols for patient care and safety.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and multi-tasking skills with excellent communication abilities.
