Interested applicants must apply online by visiting the Denver Public Schools job board at careers.dpsk12.org.Location is based on the candidate's address and building availabilityAbout this job: The Custodian Full-time works under the direction of the Facility Manager and/or Assistant Facility Manager, cleaning the facility and performing grounds work in accordance with DPS guidelines. May perform minor maintenance activities on facilities and equipment.What DPS Offers You:A culture that values equity, accountability, integrity, collaboration and fun with a shared vision that every learner thrives.Competitive starting hourly rate of $21.11 per hour - additional compensation information can be found here.In addition to competitive compensation, DPS has other Total Reward offerings such as; time off, health and wellness benefits, and PERA Retirement.What You'll Do:Clean, dust, sweep, sanitize, mop, scrub, vacuum, shampoos facility surfaces and floorsFollow proper procedures for chemical and power equipment use, in order to prevent damage and injury.Remove graffiti, gum and other markings from facility surfaces, and repaints with protective coating.Check and verify facility security and safety by locking doors, windows and gates; and report unsafe conditions to the supervisor.Perform a wide variety of grounds work (e.g., minor irrigation system repair, snow removal and sweeping of walkways, landscape trimming and cultivating, edging and mowing grass, spraying and applying landscape chemicals).Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, facility systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of the facility does not deteriorate.What You'll Need:Be at least 18 years of age.Pass a reading test administered by Denver Public SchoolsSuccessfully complete and pass a paid housekeeping course (20 hour course over 5 days)Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.Denver Public Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy, gender expression, and sexual orientation), parental status, national origin, age, disability, genetic information (including family medical history), political affiliation, military service, or any other status protected by law or regulations.
