Director Of Graduate Medical Education (Gme)
Burrell College School of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking a Director of Graduate Medical Education (GME). The Director is responsible for management and oversight of Burrell's GME Office, including supervision of staff and budgetary management. The Director will work collaboratively with internal and external parties to facilitate the development of new graduate medical education programs and support existing programs affiliated with the College. The Director of GME supports the Dean of the Burrell College School of Osteopathic Medicine in the development of long-range planning and oversight of compliance in GME activities. The Director will oversee and coordinate all contracted services to affiliated GME providers from various College departments and consultants. The Director will serve as the College's liaison to affiliate GME providers to ensure administrative and academic services are effectively provided. The College has successfully received both public and private sponsored funding in the past in support of GME initiatives, and has currently active proposals which, if awarded, would significantly expand the scope of the GME department's responsibility and staffing. The Director of GME will work with the Dean or other College faculty and staff on new Grant applications for GME development and provide technical and administrative oversight for existing grants.
This position reports to the Dean of the Burrell College School of Osteopathic Medicine and is exempt.
The selected candidate will support Burrell College's organizational health initiatives, focusing on enhancing leadership, promoting clarity of purpose, improving communication, and reinforcing a respectful, purpose-driven culture. This role is key to fostering a healthy, high-performing organization that values integrity, transparency, and collaboration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as Department Head for the GME Department and as primary liaison for all affiliate GME providers.
- Supervise assigned GME departmental staff.
- Represent the College internally and externally on GME matters.
- Participate in strategic planning and assist with policy development.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new GME programs (including but not limited to preparation of pro-forma statements for potential programs, and specialty requirement details).
- Draft and manage contracts with affiliate GME providers to define and deliver services provided either by the College directly or through consultants and contractors.
- Work with the Dean or other College faculty and staff on new Grant applications for GME development and provide technical and administrative oversight for existing grants.
- Support initiatives in Osteopathic Recognition for current and future partners.
- Act as Sponsoring Institution's Institutional Coordinator or DIO (in the ADS system) if needed.
- Provide support to existing and new programs with the ACGME application process (institutional, program application, and Osteopathic Recognition).
- Travel for GME program development and maintenance as needed.
- Interpret and apply ACGME, other national accrediting agencies, and hospital policies to support compliance.
- Prepare reports and collect necessary information for developing appropriate database analysis tools to meet external and internal requirements.
- Establish priorities for the GME office.
- Attend regional and national professional meetings to monitor requirements, changes, and current trends within GME.
- Prepare, submit, and monitor the budget for the Office of GME.
- Work with the Office of Clinical Education to meet the COCA 6.10 (residency requirement) standard for third-year students.
- Serve as a member on various committees, as needed.
- Collaborate with the Dean with special projects as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean.

- Proficiency in the use of personal computer and current software applications including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and New Innovations.

- Interpersonal and human relations skills.
- Time management skills for managing multiple tasks simultaneously, achieving results and objectives, and completing work within allocated time frames.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Master's Degree in a relevant field
- 2 years of relevant work experience in a health care or higher education environment; prior experience with the ACGME initial accreditation process is strongly preferred.
Preferences:
- Experience with grant or contract development and administration.
- National Board for Certification of Training Administrators of GME Certification (C-TAGME)
Working Conditions and Efforts:
- This job is conducted in an office work environment.
- Approximately 90% of this position's duties require the use of a computer.
- Must be able to exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal.
Work Schedule:
- Typically, Monday through Friday, 8 am-5 pm
- May occasionally require evenings and weekends.
