MIG Welder

We are seeking an experienced MIG Welder to join our manufacturing team building and repairing heavy-duty dump bodies and truck equipment. The ideal candidate will have proven experience welding abrasion-resistant (AR) materials , interpreting fabrication drawings, and producing high-quality welds that meet company and industry standards. This position requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of heavy-duty truck body construction, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Perform MIG welding on dump body assemblies, subassemblies, and components.
2. Weld abrasion-resistant (AR) materials and structural steel used in dump body construction.
3. Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, fabrication drawings, and work instructions.
4. Fit, align, tack, and weld structural components including sidewalls, floors, tailgates, hoists, cross members, and understructures.
5. Operate welding equipment, plasma cutters, oxy-fuel torches, grinders, and fabrication tools.
6. Inspect welds for quality, penetration, appearance, and adherence to specifications.
7. Perform repairs and modifications on dump bodies and truck body equipment as required.
8. Follow approved welding procedures when working with AR materials to minimize cracking, distortion, and quality defects.
9. Assist with fabrication, assembly, and installation of dump body components.
10. Follow all OSHA, company safety, and quality standards.
11. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 6S principles.
12. Clean and maintain welding stations, fixtures, tools, and surrounding work areas throughout the shift.
13. Remove weld slag, weld spatter, scrap material, and debris promptly to prevent safety hazards and quality issues.
14. Inspect and clean welds as required, ensuring slag and spatter are removed prior to moving parts to subsequent operations.
15. Take ownership of weld quality by identifying and correcting defects such as incomplete fusion, undercut, porosity, excessive spatter, and slag inclusions.
16. Maintain work areas in an inspection-ready condition at all times.
17. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

1. Minimum 3 years of MIG welding experience in heavy equipment, truck body, trailer, dump body, or structural steel fabrication.
2. Demonstrated experience welding abrasion-resistant (AR) materials used in heavy-duty applications.
3. Ability to read blueprints and understand welding symbols.
4. Experience using measuring devices including tape measures, squares, levels, and calipers.
5. Knowledge of welding procedures for thick-gauge steel and heavy-duty applications.
6. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in physically demanding environments.
7. Strong attention to quality, workmanship, and detail.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience manufacturing dump bodies, roll-off containers, trailers, refuse bodies, or heavy truck equipment.
2. Experience operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and fabrication equipment.
3. Familiarity with FCAW (Flux-Core Arc Welding) processes.
4. Knowledge of hydraulic dump systems and truck body installation.

3. Understanding of abrasive-resistant (AR) material welding techniques.
4. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

7. Strong understanding of 6S workplace organization and housekeeping expectations.
8. Ability to recognize weld defects and perform corrective actions before parts move to the next operation.

Physical Requirements

1. Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting.
2. Ability to work in hot, cold, dusty, and noisy manufacturing environments.
3. Ability to wear required PPE including welding helmet, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toe boots with metatarsal guards.

Experience Requirement Highlight

Candidates must have verifiable experience welding abrasion-resistant (AR) materials used in heavy-duty truck equipment and dump body manufacturing, including the ability to consistently produce high-quality welds, recognize weld defects, maintain proper weld appearance, and ensure finished products meet company quality standards.
