Equipment Manager – Heavy Civil / Construction Equipment

We are seeking an experienced Equipment Manager to oversee and manage a fleet of more than 200 pieces of heavy construction equipment while leading a team of 4 field mechanics. This role is responsible for maximizing equipment uptime, coordinating repairs and maintenance, managing shop and field operations, and ensuring equipment is operating safely and efficiently across multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee preventative maintenance and repair schedules for a fleet of 200+ heavy equipment assets
• Supervise and coordinate daily activities of 4 field mechanics and outside vendors
• Track equipment utilization, downtime, repair costs, and maintenance records
• Coordinate field service calls and emergency repairs to minimize project downtime
• Manage equipment inspections, DOT compliance, and safety standards
• Oversee parts inventory, procurement, and vendor relationships
• Work closely with operations and project teams to allocate equipment efficiently across jobsites
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and long-term fleet planning
• Ensure all equipment is maintained to company and manufacturer standards

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience managing heavy construction equipment fleets
• Strong background with earthmoving, paving, grading, utility, or heavy civil equipment
• Previous experience leading mechanics or maintenance personnel
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and fleet management systems
• Ability to troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, diesel, and GPS-related equipment issues
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• CDL and/or OEM certifications are a plus

Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
