Patient Care Coordinator - Per Diem

The Patient Care Coordinator - Per Diem position requires excellent customer service skills and involves frequent communication with facility-based clinical team members and payor sources to ensure effective facility and patient bed management. This remote, per-diem role is scheduled as needed across 24/7 hours, including holidays, weekends, day shifts, night shifts, overnights, and mid-shifts. Primary Responsibilities Support operational and facility-based needs for a 24/7 operation by completing patient admissions, transfers, or discharges. Ensure proper updates in IT systems for admits, transfers, and discharges meeting 5-minute performance standards. Correct registration edits and demographic updates as required. Conduct insurance eligibility and benefit verification via web-based tools and phone. Print registration documentation and coordinate production. Notify payers of admissions and status changes via fax, phone, or electronic means. Escalate issues to corporate Financial Clearance staff or facility financial specialists. Maintain knowledge of registration requirements for inpatient and outpatient services. Enter accurate demographic information into the ADT system at registration. Communicate with facilities or providers to clarify or obtain additional patient information. Escalate accounts to appropriate patient registration leadership staff when needed. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, PHI, ABN, MSP, EMTALA, and related regulations. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. 6+ months of experience verifying medical insurance. 6+ months of patient access (registration) experience in a hospital, physician office, insurance company, or revenue cycle setting. Intermediate PC proficiency for data entry, sending/receiving emails. Intermediate proficiency with Outlook, Word, and Excel. Availability for varied shifts, holidays, weekends, day, night, overnight, and mid-shifts. Completion of two weeks of system training (Tuesday-Friday 8 AM - 4:30 PM AZ Time). Minimum age 18 years. Preferred Qualifications 6+ months of problem-solving experience within a healthcare facility or insurance setting. Working knowledge of medical terminology. Telecommuting Requirements Dedicated work area separated from other living areas to ensure privacy. Keep company-sensitive documents secure. Pay range: $18.00 to $32.00 per hour for full-time employment.
