HVAC Technician

Job Description We are seeking an HVAC Technician to join our facilities team, specializing in the maintenance, repair, and installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems within an educational environment. This role is essential in ensuring a comfortable, safe, and energy‑efficient atmosphere for students, teachers, and staff across school buildings and campus facilities. Pay $20.00 - $25.00/hour. The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position. Responsibilities HVAC System Maintenance & Repair: Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair HVAC systems including boilers, chillers, furnaces, heat pumps, air handlers, and ventilation systems; ensure proper functioning of temperature control systems, thermostats, and building automation systems; perform seasonal maintenance to optimize performance and efficiency. Installation & System Upgrades: Install and replace HVAC components, ductwork, and air filtration systems in classrooms, offices, gymnasiums, and other school facilities; upgrade HVAC equipment to meet energy‑efficiency goals and district sustainability initiatives. Preventative Maintenance & Compliance: Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules; ensure compliance with state/federal codes, school district policies, and safety regulations; monitor and maintain indoor air quality standards. Emergency Response & Troubleshooting: Respond promptly to HVAC emergencies and diagnose and resolve issues efficiently to minimize downtime. Collaboration & Documentation: Work closely with school administrators, custodial staff, and maintenance teams to coordinate repairs and projects; maintain accurate records of work completed, system performance, and required repairs for compliance and budgeting. Expectations Reliability: Ensure timely response to HVAC issues to maintain a comfortable learning environment. Professionalism: Maintain courteous and respectful demeanor when working in schools. Problem‑Solving: Diagnose HVAC problems accurately and implement effective, long‑term solutions. Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and HVAC regulations. Efficiency & Time Management: Complete tasks in a timely manner while maintaining high‑quality workmanship. Energy Efficiency Focus: Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce utility costs. Teamwork & Communication: Work collaboratively and communicate HVAC‑related updates effectively. Continuous Learning: Stay updated on new HVAC technologies, regulations, and best practices. Qualifications Valid state HVAC license and EPA certification. 3 years of HVAC experience, preferably in an educational or commercial setting. Knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, and energy management systems. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently. Experience with preventative maintenance and emergency repairs. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and perform manual labor as needed.
