Business Development Representative

Yet most merchants are flying blind—making decisions about product pages, merchandising, pricing, and offers without ever testing what actually drives conversions. The difference between guessing and knowing can be 15‑30% in revenue, but A/B testing has historically been too expensive, too complex, or too slow for most brands. Shoplift changes that. We're the fastest, easiest A/B testing platform built specifically for Shopify merchants. We help brands discover what actually converts—should luxury skincare shoppers see lifestyle photos or close‑up texture shots? Does a supplement brand's product page convert better with per‑serving or per‑bottle pricing? These decisions matter, and we make it simple to find the answers through visual editors, AI-powered recommendations, and expert guidance. We're scaling rapidly with 2,000+ brands trusting us to optimize their stores, from fast‑growing DTC brands to Shopify Plus merchants. You'll have direct impact on our trajectory, real ownership over your area, and the chance to refine how we execute at scale. If you thrive in high‑autonomy environments where your work directly moves revenue, you'll love it here. The Role As a BDR at Shoplift, you're the first voice prospects hear. You'll qualify inbound leads through cold calling and outreach, book demos for our Account Executives, and run educational outbound campaigns that help ecommerce brands succeed—whether they're ready to buy or not. This is a foundational sales role designed to teach you the craft of selling while giving you a clear, fast path to becoming an AE. Here's what makes this different from most BDR roles: You're not a lead factory grinding through quotas. You'll work closely with AEs, learn our product deeply, sit in on customer calls, and build the skills you need to close deals yourself. High performers get promoted to AE quickly. Why this role matters: We have more demand than our AEs can handle, which means qualified leads are slipping through. Your job is to make sure every good‑fit prospect gets in front of the right AE at the right time. You'll be the quality gate that ensures our sales team works on deals worth closing. What You'll Do Qualify Inbound Leads (60% of time) Respond to demo requests, app installs, and marketing leads within minutes Cold call prospects to qualify fit: Do they have a Shopify store? Appropriate traffic/revenue? Valid CRO use case? Determine if prospect meets ICP and route to the right AE Book qualified demos for AEs when prospects are ready to evaluate Manage follow‑up sequences for leads not ready to buy now Run Educational Outbound (30% of time) Reach out to high‑fit prospects (Shopify Plus brands, specific verticals, warm partner connections) to offer value first Share free resources, lead magnets, and educational content about A/B testing and CRO Offer to connect prospects with relevant people in our network (agencies, experts, other brands) Build relationships by helping brands succeed, even if it doesn't result in an immediate demo Test new messaging and approaches focused on education rather than hard selling Partner with AEs (10% of time) Attend AE demos and customer calls to learn the full sales cycle Debrief on meetings you booked: What went well? What could improve? Provide feedback on lead quality and help refine ICP Shadow negotiations and closing calls as you prepare for AE promotion What success looks like: Month 1‑2: You're learning the product, the market, and booking your first meetings Month 3‑6: You're consistently booking qualified meetings with improving qualification accuracy Month 6+: You're exceeding targets, shadowing complex deals, and preparing for AE promotion High performers: Get promoted to AE quickly You're a Great Fit If... Must‑haves: 1‑2 years in sales, customer‑facing, or high‑volume customer success roles (recent grads with relevant internships welcome) High‑agency mindset – you take ownership, find solutions, and don't wait to be told what to do Coachable and hungry – you want to learn sales and you're willing to take feedback and iterate quickly Excellent communication – you're articulate on phone/video and can adapt your style to different prospects Organized and process‑driven – you manage your pipeline, follow up consistently, and hit activity targets Resilient – you don't take rejection personally and you bounce back fast Comfortable with autonomy – you thrive when given goals and trusted to figure out how to achieve them Nice‑to‑haves: Interest in ecommerce or familiarity with Shopify Experience with outbound prospecting or lead qualification Background in startups or high‑growth environments You'll struggle here if: You need constant direction and can't operate with high autonomy You're not genuinely coachable or don't take feedback well You're uncomfortable with cold calling or initiating conversations with strangers What Makes This Different

  5. Education‑First Approach We care about being helpful first, selling second. You'll build relationships by genuinely helping brands, which makes this role more consultative and less transactional than typical BDR work.
