What You'll Do:
- Draw high-quality blood specimens from patients across all age groups, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations, ensuring safety and comfort at all times.
- Prepare and label specimens following established procedures, verifying patient demographics and ensuring specimens are correctly identified and documented.
- Communicate clearly and empathetically with patients, explaining procedures, addressing concerns, and building trust to foster a positive experience.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of all specimen collection activities, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and safety protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare team members, supporting process improvements and upholding the highest standards of professionalism.
- Adapt to various work environments, including patient service centers, in-office settings, and mobile collection sites, with flexibility for schedule changes, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
- Uphold safety standards, infection control, and confidentiality policies to create a secure environment for patients and staff alike.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid phlebotomy certification (preferred in applicable states), with 1-3 years of hands-on experience in clinical blood collection, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
- Demonstrated expertise in venipuncture and capillary collection, with a focus on error-free, high-quality specimen collection.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations and team members.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities efficiently in a high-volume setting.
- Basic keyboard and data entry skills for accurate patient documentation.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on established procedures.
Nice to Have:
- Medical assistant or paramedic training.
- Experience working in a customer service environment, particularly in retail or service industries.
Preferred Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Additional certification or training in phlebotomy is highly beneficial.
- Experience working in a Patient Service Center environment is preferred.
Additional Requirements:
- Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record if travel between locations is involved.
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts to meet staffing needs.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume setting with professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
- Current certifications and licensure as required in specific states such as California, Nevada, and Washington.
