Usually an entry level position as the first step to learn a skill.**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*** Digging, spreading and leveling dirt, sand and gravel using a pick, shovel or rake.* Lift, carry and hold construction materials, tools and supplies.* Clean tools, equipment, materials and work area.* Mix, pour and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel and other materials using hand tools.* Join, wrap and seal sections of pipe.* Perform a variety of routine non-machine tasks such as removing forms, filling excavations, placing pipe sections in trench and assembling sections of pipe.* Perform a variety of machine tasks such as tapping soil, jack hammering and assisting in the fusing of pipe.**OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*** Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.* Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.* Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.* Must be able to drive* Perform other duties as assigned.This position involves work at and around the Jacksonville airport. As such, the candidate must be able to successfully complete and pass a background check for security clearance. Additionally, a clear Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) is essential.**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE*** Less than a High School Diploma**Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations:**A valid driver's License**WORKING CONDITIONS*** Outdoors exposed to changing weather conditions (for instance, rain, sun, snow, wind, etc.)**PHYSICAL ACTIVITY LEVEL*** Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.**MANUAL DEXTERITY*** Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers and perceives attributes of objects and materials.“Note: The Statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and levels of work performed by employees, but are not a complete list of responsibilities, duties and skills required of personnel so classified.
