Two rewarding, part-time contract positions are available near McHenry, IL, working with high school students in inclusive mainstream classrooms. These roles are ideal for professionals passionate about facilitating learning and empowering students by bridging language gaps.
Current part-time openings include:
- One assignment in a high school setting from 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, running through May 21, 2027.
- Another high school position from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, extending until May 30, 2027.
Your expertise will enable students to access instruction and school activities alongside peers while supporting their communication needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid ISBE certification or a 3.5+ EIPA score, OR a 3.0+ EIPA with IBSE approval
- Experience providing sign language interpretation in educational or school environments
- Ability to collaborate with educators, support staff, and families
- Strong command of American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with educational best practices
- Professionalism, reliability, and compassion for high school learners
Position Responsibilities:
- Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and events in ASL for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Join in student support meetings and conferences as required
- Work closely with teachers and administrators to ensure full access to the curriculum
- Adapt interpreting methods to student needs, fostering an inclusive learning atmosphere
