About the Role:
The Leasing Agent plays a critical role in the property management team by serving as the primary point of contact for prospective tenants. This position is responsible for marketing available rental properties, scheduling property tours, and facilitating the leasing process from application to move-in. The Leasing Agent ensures that all leasing activities comply with fair housing laws and company policies, maintaining a professional and welcoming environment. Success in this role directly impacts occupancy rates and tenant satisfaction, contributing to the overall profitability and reputation of the property. The Leasing Agent collaborates closely with property management and maintenance teams to address tenant needs and support community engagement.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in leasing, sales, or customer service, preferably in real estate or property management.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic knowledge of fair housing laws and leasing regulations.
- Proficiency with standard office software and property management systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Real Estate, or related field.
- Experience using property management software such as AppFolio
- Bilingual abilities, especially in Spanish, to better serve diverse tenant populations.
- Demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding leasing goals.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule property tours and present available units to prospective tenants, highlighting key features and benefits.
- Process rental applications, verify applicant information, and communicate leasing terms and conditions clearly.
- Maintain accurate records of leasing activities, tenant communications, and lease agreements in compliance with company policies.
- Respond promptly to inquiries via phone, email, and in-person visits, providing excellent customer service throughout the leasing process.
- Coordinate with property management and maintenance teams to ensure units are ready for occupancy and tenant concerns are addressed.

The Leasing Agent utilizes strong communication skills daily to engage with prospective tenants, clearly explaining leasing terms and answering questions to facilitate informed decisions. Organizational skills are essential for managing multiple leasing files, scheduling tours, and maintaining accurate records to ensure compliance and efficiency. Customer service skills are applied consistently to create a positive experience that encourages lease signings and tenant retention. Knowledge of fair housing laws guides the agent in conducting equitable and lawful leasing practices. Additionally, proficiency with property management software streamlines application processing and lease documentation, enhancing overall workflow and tenant satisfaction.
