The role involves working in two operating departments, primarily in a 7-room unit. The typical surgical load includes general surgeries such as hernias, appendectomies, and cholecystectomies. You will also be involved in colorectal procedures, open and laparoscopic bowel resections, and robotic surgeries. Experience with gynecological surgeries, including oncological and benign procedures, is required. Urology procedures will include cystoscopies, TURPs, and laparoscopic nephrectomies. The nurse will assist in breast surgeries, including biopsies and mastectomies. Eye surgeries include occasional procedures such as cataracts and vitrectomies. You may also assist with brachytherapy device insertion and plastic surgeries. The unit operates from Monday to Friday, usually finishing by 7-8 PM. If there is an early finish or short staffing, flexibility to float to other areas will be required. Obligations include two weekend on-call shifts and an average of one 11 AM - 7:45 PM shift per week.
