Responsibilities
- Plan and provide comprehensive nursing care for obstetric patients across antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, including emergency situations.
- Monitor fetal and maternal status, assess amniotic fluid, vaginal bleeding, and overall maternal-fetal wellbeing; respond to perinatal emergencies (e.g., crash C-section, precipitous delivery, shoulder dystocia).
- Circulate for C-sections and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement goal-directed care plans.
- Manage pain control during labor and support alternative pain management options when appropriate; assist with epidural catheter placement and monitor patient after medication administration.
- Educate patients and families through all stages of perinatal care; document findings and care plans in the medical record; supervise and delegate tasks to ancillary staff within scope of practice.
- Maintain proficiency with unit-specific workflows and electronic medical records (EPIC) to ensure accurate documentation and communication.

Requirements
- Licenses/Certifications: Current RN license in the state of practice (California); Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); Intermediate Fetal Monitoring course; Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) or Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) certification; AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS; AHA-NRP or ARC-NALS.
- Education: Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of two years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience.
- Other: EPIC experience required; ability to work nights in a high-acuity obstetric setting.
