Advanced Medical Assistant (AMA)

Join a compassionate healthcare team in the Southern Gulf Coast region as an Advanced Medical Assistant. This role involves warmly welcoming patients and visitors, whether in person or over the phone, and professionally managing inquiries with courtesy and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate logs to ensure compliance with state regulations.
• Obtain and document patient medical histories.
• Measure vital signs including blood pressure and weight.
• Explain treatment procedures clearly to patients.
• Prepare patients for examinations and assist physicians during these procedures.
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and perform basic lab tests.
• Provide patient education on medications and special diets.
• Prepare and administer medications under physician direction.
• Transmit prescription refills as authorized.
• Draw blood samples and perform electrocardiograms.
• Remove sutures and change dressings as needed.
• Handle administrative duties such as computer applications, answering phones, greeting patients, scheduling appointments, updating medical records, coding and filing insurance forms, arranging hospital admissions and lab services, and managing correspondence, billing, and bookkeeping.

Education: Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred.

Experience: Prior experience in a clinical setting is advantageous, especially in patient care and administrative support.

Requirements: Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment are essential. Certification or licensure as a Medical Assistant is a plus.
