Principal BI Engineer

We are seeking a talented Principal BI Engineer in Pune, India. The right candidate has strong communication skills, passion for solving business problems with data, domain knowledge in Sales Marketing, Customer Success Product, empathy, curiosity and a desire to improve and constantly learn; has hands‑on experience in Tableau, SQL and Snowflake. Proven track record of driving best practices and processes, creating actionable analytics visualizations. Responsibilities Design and build performant data visualizations for Sales, Marketing, Customer Support, Customer Success departments and extend to Product. Serve as the data evangelist for these business domains, driving adoption of data analytics across business teams, building data stories and shifting how enterprise decisions are made using data. Work independently while partnering with a global team of PMs, Business Analysts, and IT/ETL engineers (onsite and offshore). Synthesize business meetings into clear requirements, define KPI and metrics, and prioritize requirements. Evangelize data requirements across multiple business functions. Partner with Business stakeholders in Sales, Marketing, Revenue Operations, Customer Success and Support to understand, analyze, prioritize and deliver data and reporting needs. Create state‑of‑the‑art dashboards that drive business actions. Perform hands‑on analysis of business data using SQL or other tools, build Tableau visualizations, and communicate analysis in an impactful manner to business teams and executives. Write complex SQL to analyze cross‑functional business datasets, answer business questions, and test data quality. Troubleshoot data and reporting issues, solving them with a sense of high urgency. Transform data from source systems into data marts in Snowflake using complex SQL transformations. Clearly communicate progress, dependencies, risks, issues, and key metrics to business and IT leadership. Review peer work and mentor junior team members. Train business teams on how to self‑serve using the enterprise data platform. Qualifications Excellent communication skills, ability to collaborate across multiple business and IT teams, and mentor other engineers. Strong knowledge of business workflows and data in Sales, Marketing, Customer Support, and Customer Success domains. 10+ years of experience in data analysis using complex SQL and Tableau, with a strong eye for UI/UX of reports and dashboards. 2–3 years of hands‑on experience using Snowflake. Strong understanding of data warehouse concepts. Strong troubleshooting skills—identifying and fixing data issues and anomalies. Knowledge of enterprise business applications—Marketo, Salesforce products (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Community Cloud, CPQ), Gainsight. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an MBA.
