What You'll Do As a Job Shop Machinist, you will be responsible for creating high-quality precision metal parts, tools, and other components - operating a variety of specialized machinery and ensuring all work adheres to safety and quality standards. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:- Creating precision metal parts, tools, and components using a diverse range of equipment including lathes, milling machines (conversational and manual), and micrometers
- Preparing and operating machines to cut and polish raw materials and components to exact specifications
- Utilizing manual tools to finish projects, ensuring high-quality results and adherence to design specifications
- Thoroughly study design criteria, read and interpret blueprints, and analyze projectjob.
- specifications to determine the necessary equipment, materials, and processes for each
- Continuously monitoring machine operations and product output to identify and address any deviations from quality standards
- Reporting any equipment malfunctions, material defects, or safety concerns to the supervisor
- Strictly adhering to all applicable safety requirements and protocols during all operations
- Maintaining a clean, organized work area and ensuring all equipment is properly cared for

- High school diploma or GED, OR 3-5 years of machining experience or training (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience in machining or a related field
- Solid understanding of metal properties and machining processes
- Experience with manual machine operations
- Experience with conversational machine operations
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, and crawl throughout the shift
- Regularly lift and/or move objects up to 25 lbs. and frequently lift up to 50 lbs.
- Use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and communicate effectively
- Maintain close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
