Site Liaison

The Jewish Community Center Day Camp has an opening for a Site Liaison at our Chesterfield location. Our caring and enthusiastic staff provides one on one support to child and youth with developmental disabilities as they participate in regular camp programming in a variety of activities including swimming, outdoor activities, crafts, drama, sports and nature.Assist counselors in appropriately managing crisis situations related to behavior or health as neededAssist Day Camp Directors in locating counselor/camper pairings during morning drop offAssist Day Camp Directors in brainstorming creative innovative ways to include campers with developmental and physical disabilities into traditional camp activities.Attend all Monday morning meetings with staffFill in for counselors that may call in sick or have emergenciesComplete necessary paperwork for fundersCollect progress notes from counselors each FridayAssist counselors with staying with their camp groups as much as possibleSupport children and youth as they participate in group or individual activitiesMake accommodations to activities as needed to allow the camper to fully participateBe available for the entire duration of camp (May 27th-August 2nd) and have reliable transportationFollow all JCC rules, regulations, and standardsAttend training and meetings as requiredOther duties as assigned by supervisorBA in related field (Psychology, Sociology, Special Education, Social Work)Experience working in crisis situations with children or youth with developmental disabilitiesUnderstanding of unique needs of children and youth with developmental disabilitiesMust have auditory, visual, ambulatory and cognitive communications and physical ability to complete major tasks in the programAbility to relate to and communicate with one’s peer group, parents, as well as to child’s age and skill levelsAbility to accept guidance and supervisionAbility to assist children and youth in emergency situations; including fire, evacuation, illness, or injuryShould possess good character, integrity, and adaptabilityDemonstrate enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control in a dynamic environmentCurrent CPR and First Aid certification is required and must be maintained.
