Who We Are Looking For:

We’re looking for a hands-on Assistant General Manager to help run the day-to-day operations of our Scenter while developing the team and delivering an exceptional experience for every dog and dog parent. You’ll partner with the Scenter Manager to lead the floor, coach the team, hit our goals, and keep safety and service standards high. The right person leads by example, communicates openly, and stays calm and organized in a fast-paced, dog-first environment.

Compensation & Schedule:

● Hourly pay: $27–32/hr based on experience (non-exempt, overtime-eligible)

● Performance bonuses tied to Scenter goals

● Eligible for overtime, paid sick leave, and meal and rest breaks per California law

What You’ll Do:

● Partner with the Scenter Manager to run daily operations across the front and back of house

● Lead our daily huddle, set the pace, and coach the team in real time on safety, service timing, and customer experience

● Drive key results—membership sales, rebooks, productivity, average ticket value, and S.C.E.N.T. Check completion

● Model and hold the team accountable to safety and sanitation standards on every dog

● Complete opening and closing manager procedures

● Build employee schedules and review timesheets

● Manage inventory, ordering, and tool and equipment readiness

● Handle client concerns and difficult conversations with professionalism

● Support hiring, onboarding, training, and certification of team members through Scenthound career pathing

● Step in to perform any Scenter role—Scent Tech or Member Associate—as needed

● Take on other tasks as assigned by the Scenter Manager

This Assistant General Manager Position Requires:

● Prior leadership or supervisory experience, ideally in grooming, pet care, retail, hospitality, or a service business

● Ability to learn and model all Scenter roles and responsibilities, including bathing dogs

● Confidence and empathy handling dogs of all sizes and temperaments

● Ability to lift up to 70 pounds and stand for long periods, with or without reasonable accommodation

● Strong organizational and time-management skills

● A reliable means of getting to work

● Willingness to work in a smoke-free environment

Skills and Abilities:

● Clear communication with team members and dog parents

● Strong leadership, coaching, and problem-solving

● Comfort with goals, scheduling, and basic business metrics

● Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
