A Brief Overview

The Monitor Technician/Clinical Secretary continually monitors cardiac rhythms on a specific unit, identifies and interprets changes in rhythms and acts appropriately. Performs clerical duties on a nursing unit, answers the telephone, relays Messages, and acts as a receptionist receiving and directing visitors and ambulatory patients.

What you will do

• Telephone and patient call bells are answered in a prompt & appropriate manner, redirects calls and patient requests promptly to appropriate staff
• Utilizes Service Response Center in a timely manner
• Obtains, stocks and organizes office supplies
• Maintains label book and logbook
• Orders are transcribed accurately,
• Charts are in appropriate order,
• Charts are flagged & labeled appropriately for verbal orders,
• Files labs & other reports accurately, assures all referrals and consults are initiated appropriately
• Verifies with nurse on admission and every shift patient on telemetry

Education Qualifications

• High School Diploma with the successful completion of Medical Terminology and Monitor Tech course preferred. May substitute 2 years previous specific work experience with medical terminology for the Medical Terminology course certification. (Example: HIM Tech, Paralegal, Medical Biller, Medical Secretary, Patient Access Representative) Required

Experience Qualifications

• MT/Clerical experience Preferred
