Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician

What you'll do Travel 70–90% (domestic and international) to customer sites within the DEUTZ Power Center territory to troubleshoot, install, and repair DEUTZ and non‑DEUTZ equipment. Diagnose complex engine and emissions systems (including NG/CNG and Tier 3–4) using portable diagnostic tools and software. Plan job methods and sequences; complete manufacturer‑specified repairs safely and accurately. Pre‑stage and pre‑order required parts/materials; manage vehicle inventory for first‑call completions; return unused parts per Power Center guidelines. Document work in Fieldaware; consult the DEUTZ Service Department ticket system for repair accuracy and approvals; complete work orders and time sheets on time. Collaborate with the Service Supervisor, Parts, Customers, New Engine Sales, and Engineering/Warranty teams. Maintain a clean, safe work environment and a DOT‑compliant, clean service truck. Assist with warranty claim submissions and customer invoicing. Uphold all company policies and procedures, including travel and company credit card usage. Present a professional, organized image of DEUTZ at customer sites and in the shop. What you'll bring High school diploma or GED. Active DOT medical card (ability to maintain status). Valid driver’s license and insurability; meets requirements to operate a company‑assigned service vehicle. Computer proficiency with Serdia, Serpic, Fieldaware, Microsoft Word, and Excel. 2–5 years’ construction equipment repair experience preferred; heavy equipment/diesel certifications or training preferred. Extensive familiarity with DEUTZ diesel engines. Excellent customer communication skills (in person and by phone); strong written documentation. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Own tool set; key DEUTZ tools supplied. Capabilities that set you apart Language: Read/interpret safety rules, operations/maintenance instructions, and procedures; write concise reports; present to groups. Math: Use arithmetic with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; compute rate/ratio/percent; interpret bar graphs. Reasoning: Solve practical problems with limited standardization; follow written, oral, diagrammatic, and schedule‑based instructions. Environment & physical requirements Shop and field work with frequent standing/walking; potential exposure to weather and loud noise. Daily: concentration, sitting, standing, communication, verbal interaction, hearing/listening, vision, lifting, bending.
