Warehouse Operations Manager

Description JOB OVERVIEW: The Operations Manager will be responsible for coordinating the movement of goods in the PortCity warehouse, making sure that the right number of goods ordered is moved to the right locations and to the right people at the scheduled time. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Recruit, select, train, assign, schedule, coach, counsel, and discipline employees Communicate job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions Plan and review compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures Contribute operations information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; prepare and complete action plans; implement production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolve problems; complete audits; identify trends Forecast requirements; prepare an annual budget; schedule expenditures; analyze variances; initiating corrective actions Develop operations systems by determining product handling and storage requirements; develop, implement, enforce, and evaluate policies and procedures; develop processes for receiving product, equipment utilization, inventory management, and shipping Analyze and improve organizational process and workflow, employee and space requirements, and equipment layout; implement changes Maintain safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations Accomplish operations and organization mission by completing related results as needed Meet or exceed operations labor budget expectations Manage staff levels, wages, hours, contract labor to revenues Responsible for all department managers and supervisors, with review/approval responsibility for all operations employees Run a safe, injury/accident-free workplace Responsible for all aspects of vehicle and heavy equipment rentals Serve as primary point of contact when there are customer issues related to equipment quality, customer service, or accidents and mishaps on-site. Communicate customer issues with operations team and devise ways of improving the customer experience, including resolving problems and complaints Work closely with AGM and GM and management team to set and/or implement policies, procedures, and systems and to follow through with implementation. Communicate all operating policies and/or issues at department meetings Work closely with the inventory manager and team to perform analysis of our inventory and ensure we are utilizing our inventory effectively, purchasing the right equipment, maintaining solid inventory data, and reduce sub-rental expenses SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Proven work experience as Operations Manager or similar role Knowledge of warehouse/logistics effectiveness and operations management Experience budgeting and forecasting Familiarity with business and financial principles Excellent communication skills Leadership ability Outstanding organizational skills Organization Decision-Making People Management Data Entry Skills Data Processing Skills Dependable Reporting Skills Deadline-Oriented Critical Thinking Skills Problem Solving Skills Delegation Teamwork Negotiation Adaptability Stress Tolerance THE COMPANY: Founded in 2001, PortCity is one of Savannah’s leading third‑party logistics (3PL) providers specializing in warehousing, drayage, over‑the‑road trucking, and integrated capacity solutions. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is generally performed in a warehouse environment. The noise level is moderate. Generally, well ventilated, and well lit. Warehouse team members may be required to wear protective clothing. Additionally, may operate heavy equipment and strict safety regulations may be required. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work is physically strenuous and team members are required to lift heavy packages up to 50 pounds. Work may require excessive bending or stooping. Team members may be required to climb ladders, use hand tools, and/or use heavy machinery (e.g., forklift, etc.).
