Store Manager - Northern Canada

Store Manager The Store Manager is accountable for developing store-specific action plans and directing all activities within the store to ensure customer service standards and performance targets are achieved. Responsibilities include managing budgets, labor costs, inventory control, product presentation, merchandising, coaching and developing the team to foster customer loyalty and contribute to an engaged workplace and customer environment. Candidates must be willing to relocate to multiple markets in the northernmost regions of Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Quebec, Nunavut, and the Northwest Territories. Relocation arrangements will be made and paid for by the North West Company. Salary and Benefits Salary Range: $52,020–$77,520 annually (salary commensurate with experience) Comprehensive benefits package Allowances for food and accommodation Paid training Your Responsibilities Develop detailed action plans to achieve planned profitability, sales, and controllable expense targets. Communicate financial goals to the store team and ensure they are met. Order merchandise tailored to specific market needs to maximize local sales opportunities. Control labor and overhead costs. Monitor cash, receivables, and store controls. Maintain appropriate inventory levels to maximize sales, inventory turns, and ROI. Ensure loss prevention and shrinkage are well controlled. Execute in-store selling activities, financial services, marketing programs, and company standards to support corporate initiatives. Present merchandise according to standards to maximize sales and profits. Drive sales opportunistically through promotional offerings. Price merchandise in accordance with guidelines. Consistently execute standards and disciplinary procedures. Develop a community relations plan to build long-term business relationships with customers, community stakeholders, and political leaders. Determine appropriate sponsorship and donations for local events and activities. Monitor customer service levels and satisfaction and take corrective action as required. Lead and control store goals and standards. Develop expert, in-depth knowledge of store operations, local competition, and economic factors impacting the community. Advance the store’s competitive position within the trading area. Skills and Qualifications Minimum of 2–5 years experience as a Store Manager or General Manager in a retail environment. Experience in retail distribution, budget planning, merchandise displays, inventory control, cost control, and revenue generation. Strong customer service skills. Robust working knowledge of Excel, Outlook, POS systems, and PDTs. Strong knowledge of grocery operating principles. Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with high attention to detail. Proven organizational, planning, and prioritizing skills. Highly motivated and adventurous with appreciation for small-town life in a culturally diverse setting (considered an asset). Working Conditions Work in extreme conditions. Lift 50+ pounds.
