About the Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to lead an inpatient behavioral health nursing unit. The Nurse Manager will oversee daily operations, support nursing staff, and drive improvements in patient care, safety, and clinical performance.

Reporting to the Director, this position carries 24-hour accountability for unit operations, staffing resources, and quality of care.

Assistant Nurse Managers ready to advance into a Nurse Manager position are encouraged to apply. Previous formal management experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct nursing unit operations and coordinate resources to support safe, effective patient care.
• Establish clear staff expectations and provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback.
• Collaborate with nursing leadership, physicians, and other disciplines to resolve clinical, staffing, and operational concerns.
• Implement evidence-based practices and use quality improvement findings to strengthen patient outcomes.
• Ensure consistent hourly rounding and coach staff on effective implementation.
• Monitor compliance with nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and departmental policies.
• Develop and implement practical, cost-effective improvements to unit operations.
• Assist with operational and capital budgets, monitor staffing and supply expenses, and address budget variances.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, professional development, and a positive patient experience.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and qualifying nursing education.
• At least three years of relevant nursing experience.
• Current Maryland Registered Nurse license or eligibility to obtain Maryland licensure.
• Current Basic Life Support certification.
• Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of patient safety, nursing standards, and quality improvement practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current nursing experience in an inpatient behavioral health facility.
• Assistant Nurse Manager experience or demonstrated readiness to advance into nursing leadership.
• Maryland APRN–Clinical Nurse Specialist license or eligibility to obtain one.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual base salary of $97,323–$145,000.
