Job Description

The Loan Officer is responsible for generating new loan and deposit volume for the bank, including managing and expanding existing customer relationships. The Loan Officer is responsible for engaging and interviewing the customer, obtaining financial information, interacting with the credit analyst and senior lender, closing loans in a timely manner, and actively managing a loan portfolio. This position requires knowledge of standard lending practices and methods, experience with residential and commercial lending, and the ability to sell a variety of bank products to customers.

This individual will comply with all bank policies, procedures and regulations, not limited to but including Bank Secrecy Act, Bank Security Policy, Employee (End-User) Electronic Security and Usage Policy, and Safeguarding Customer Information Policy.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Establish and maintain effective relationships with new and existing loan and depository customers.

· Is knowledgeable and maintains proficiency in all lending products and has a working knowledge of all other bank products to be able to market those services to existing and potential customers.

· Exhibits excellent listening skills to uncover customer needs.

· Interview applicant and request specified information for loan application.

· Analyzes applicant financial status, credit, and asset evaluation to determine feasibility of granting loan or submits application to underwriting for verification and recommendation.

· Corresponds with applicant, or creditors to resolve questions regarding application information.

· Compiles loan package and facilitates negotiation of loan structure with applicant, including fees, loan repayment options, and other credit terms.

· Ensures loan agreements are complete and accurate according to bank policy.

· Review loan documentation to ensure the accuracy of all transactions.

· Assures timely loan closing and funding activities.

· Makes loan and loan review presentations to the appropriate representative as required.

· Monitor loan repayment activities and take necessary action to collect from past-due accounts.

· Develops new business by contacting existing customers and seeking out new prospects. Maintain and expand database of customers.

· Participates in community affairs to increase the bank's visibility and to enhance new business opportunities.

· Identifies and analyzes potential markets to develop prospects for loans.

·Promotes and cross-sells other bank products and services as appropriate to customer requirements, with particular attention to customer deposit relationships.

· Assists customers with inquiries and information requests and resolves complaints relating to loan products and services.

 

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree (BA) from four-year college or university; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Skills

Must possess strong sales skills. Ability to learn and develop new skills while growing and adapting to environmental and market changes.

Maintain working customer database and consistent pattern of customer contact. Working data base should be enhanced to meet the changing markets.

The ability to work with minimal direct day to day supervision in order to meet sales objectives and day to day job requirements.

Ability to think through, anticipate and change accordingly to reduce problems and react to changing conditions that may arise in the normal course of business.
