Summary

Plan and deliver nursing care tailored to patient needs, ensuring safety and quality throughout the care process. Take on charge nurse responsibilities as assigned, maintain accurate patient records, and administer medications as prescribed. Respond promptly to life-threatening situations and foster collaborative relationships with interdisciplinary teams.

Major Responsibilities

• Assess patients and identify care requirements
• Organize and implement appropriate nursing interventions
• Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff
• Serve as charge nurse when designated
• Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
• Administer medications as ordered
• Recognize and respond to critical situations
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes
• Monitor care quality using outcome-based indicators
• Participate in cost containment and accurate patient service charging
• Adapt care to meet age-specific physiological and psychosocial needs
• Support patients' cultural and spiritual practices within medical guidelines

Education and Experience

• Associate Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in a Compact state or equivalent
• No prior work experience required

Skills and Abilities

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Effective organizational and leadership capabilities
• Knowledge of age-specific physiological, psychosocial, developmental, and spiritual patient needs

Physical Requirements

• Clear speech and auditory acuity for effective communication
• Visual acuity for patient observation
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift frequently
• Potential exposure to blood or infectious materials

Licenses and Certifications

• Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Registered Nurse licensure as required
