Registered Nurse (RN)Samaritan Daytop Village is a leading human services organization in New York State serving over 38,000 New Yorkers annually across more than 60 locations through Transitional Housing, Community Based Services, and Residential and Outpatient programs. First Steps Intensive Crisis Stabilization Center (ICSC), operated by Samaritan Daytop Village in Rockland County, is a 24/7 program dually licensed by OMH and OASAS to provide rapid, short-term support for children ages 5+ and adults in mental health or substance use crisis. Our multidisciplinary team utilizes a trauma-informed, harm-reduction framework to stabilize individuals and connect them with long-term care while avoiding unnecessary emergency room visits.We are seeking a Registered Nurse to provide skilled nursing care for individuals in acute behavioral health crisis. This role is responsible for conducting medical assessments, monitoring withdrawal symptoms, and administering medications as part of a 24/7 multidisciplinary team. You will collaborate closely with providers to manage patient health while delivering trauma-informed and recovery-oriented care. This position is ideal for an RN who excels in fast-paced environments and is passionate about providing high-quality medical support to people navigating mental health and substance use challenges.ResponsibilitiesPerforms comprehensive nursing assessments upon admission and throughout the client's stay, including vital signs and medical screeningsMonitors for signs of withdrawal using standardized protocols such as CIWA-Ar and COWSAdministers prescribed medications, including psychotropics, MOUD, and withdrawal-management medicationsCollaborates with psychiatrists and nurse practitioners on medication orders and reconciliationProvides health education to clients and families on medication management, harm reduction, and overdose preventionResponds to medical emergencies and monitors clients for signs of medical decompensation or suicidalityMaintains accurate and timely medical records in the Electronic Health Record (Avatar), including the MAR and nursing notesParticipates in multidisciplinary rounds and case conferences to coordinate crisis intervention and safety planningSupports infection control and environment-of-care requirements to ensure a safe clinical settingProvides clinical direction to LPNs and medical assistants to ensure high-quality patient careFollows agency policies and protocolsQualificationsGraduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program (ADN or BSN); BSN preferredActive and unrestricted New York State Registered Professional Nurse licenseMinimum of one year of nursing experience preferred, ideally in behavioral health, emergency departments, or detoxification settings; new graduates with a strong interest in crisis intervention may be consideredSome experience working with pediatrics ages 5 and up preferredCurrent CPR/BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferredWorking knowledge of psychiatric medications, withdrawal protocols (CIWA, COWS), and MOUDStrong clinical assessment skills with the ability to respond effectively to medical emergencies or psychiatric crisesProficiency in documenting within Electronic Health Records (Avatar experience preferred)Commitment to a trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and non-judgmental approach to patient careDemonstrated empathy and respect when working with individuals and families in acute distressThis is a full-time non-exempt role with an hourly rate of $46.70-$55.37 (annualized at 35 hours a week to $85,000-$100,786) with a full benefits package. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 25 days of paid time off, access to a retirement account with an employer to match and tuition reimbursement.This role is located in Blauvelt, NY with a schedule of Saturday-Monday 7am-7pm.
