Job Title Sr. Project Manager - Water/Wastewater Group SWG Employment Type Regular Location Virginia - Newport News Job Summary CDM Smith is seeking a self‑motivated Senior Project Manager to lead initiatives and manage projects across Virginia. The role will be a key point of contact for municipal clients, partnering with sales leadership to generate new opportunities and oversee the delivery of water and wastewater design, permitting, and construction services. Responsibilities Manage water/wastewater design, permitting, and construction services from early concept development through construction. Lead project teams and mentor junior staff, coordinating and reviewing project assignments. Work effectively with key technical specialists, project team members, and delivery managers. Assist with preparation of design drawings and specifications for large, complex, multi‑discipline projects. Prepare, monitor, and manage project budgets and schedules while managing the firm’s risk. Provide high‑level planning and program analysis, including preparation of technical documents and reports. Engage in the water/wastewater industry, staying abreast of emerging technologies, research and development opportunities, and professional society involvement. Contribute to new business development through strategic planning, marketing, and business operations planning. Collaborate with sales staff to create proposals in response to RFPs. Interface with clients and government officials to clarify technical questions and provide updates to upper management as needed. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree. 10years of related experience. PMP (PMI), CCM or DBIA certification required within 12months of hire or promotion onto the Approved Project Manager list. Travel may be required; frequency contingent on duties and workload. Equivalent directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental or chemical engineering. Professional engineering (PE) license. Project management experience on water/wastewater infrastructure design projects in Virginia. Alternative project delivery experience.
