Substitute Custodian

Custodian (Day, Evening, Overnight)

Pay Substitute Custodians are paid an hourly rate of $13.75 on a bi-weekly pay schedule.

Qualifications

1. High School graduate or equivalent preferred.

2. Previous custodial experience is preferred.

3. Must successfully pass a background check.

4. All Custodial personnel shall be able to carry/lift and safely transport items weighing up to 25 pounds and frequently up to 60 pounds.

Performance Responsibilities

1. Responsible for safety, cleaning, securing, and minor maintenance operations of the assigned facility.

2. Uses cleaning tools, chemicals, hand tools, groundskeeping tools, and cleaning machines as directed or needed to maintain assigned facilities and grounds to expectations established by the school district.

3. Fulfill assigned duties routinely and assists in preparing facilities for scheduled activities.

4. Follows directions in preparing solutions and strives to maintain efficiency in the custodial operations of the building and in the district.

5. Operates all equipment, uses hand tools, and practices safety in all aspects of the position.

6. Responsible for securing the buildings, opening and closing.

7. Maintains adequate supplies for meeting the needs of daily responsibilities.

8. Seeks out and attends professional development activities or participates in activities requested by the employer which enhance the growth of the employee.

9. Reports needed repairs to the appropriate supervisor immediately so as to not interrupt the daily schedule of academics and activities. Communicates with administrative staff and peers to maintain effective operation of the department.

10. Completes maintenance work orders when repairs are beyond the capacity of custodial responsibilities.

11. Performs other duties as requested by Custodial Supervisor, Building Principal or Director of operations.

12. They shall perform duties that relate to the cleanliness, safety and maintenance of the district's facilities. Their building assignments and duties will be coordinated between the director, head custodian and building principal.

13. Must have dependable and reliable transportation as some travel between buildings is required.
