$28 - $32 per hour

Reddy Ice Manufacturing & Distribution

Job Description

Job Description

About the Role

As an Industrial Reliability Technician, you keep our ice production humming. Your mission: ensure every system in the plant runs safely, efficiently, and predictably. You’ll blend hands-on maintenance with continuous improvement, using lean tools to slash downtime and elevate quality.

Salary: $28 – $32/hour

A Day in the Life
  • Start with a walk-through: verify equipment readiness, review overnight logs, and complete safety checklists as required by the Safety/Risk Management Department.
  • Execute preventive maintenance, interpret blueprints/schematics, and diagnose issues on production equipment to rapidly restore operation.
  • Operate processing machinery when needed to improve throughput and reduce downtime.
  • Care for utilities and water plant operations: Ice Makers, Compressors, Heat Exchangers, Ammonia and Freon Refrigeration Systems, Pumps, Condensers, and Compressors.
  • Check product quality by visually inspecting ice for clarity, cube size, and hole space.
  • Coordinate repair-part ordering and inventory so critical spares and service tools are always ready.
  • Lead or participate in Kaizen events and value stream mapping; use VSM, A3, and other lean methods to target waste and boost reliability.
  • Apply advanced root cause analysis with data to identify failures and implement durable countermeasures.
  • Tackle minor facility and grounds work—change bulbs, paint, and complete small structural repairs.
  • Coach team members in safe tool and equipment use; assist with bagging product and, at times, direct production workflow based on equipment output.
  • Perform basic electrical/electronic maintenance independently, adhering to elevated electrical and chemical safety controls.
  • Actively identify, monitor, and correct industrial health and safety issues.
  • Uphold our Code of Business Ethics—honesty, integrity, and the highest standards of conduct—and treat safety as personal.
How You Lead Continuous Improvement

You model our “True North” attributes: voice of the customer, respect for the individual, fact-based, no-nonsense communication, servant leadership, and relentless improvement. You collaborate across teams, champion lean principles, and surface opportunities for better performance to the Operations Manager.

Essential Mental Functions and Skills
  • Read and interpret English documents (safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, procedures).
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner, unfatigued.
  • Accurately gauge time and distance; quickly store/recall instructions in short-term memory.
  • Concentrate on tasks requiring high cognitive function and sound judgment.
  • Cope with sudden changes, emergencies, and alarms; demonstrate a caring, committed, and concerned attitude about safety.
  • Exhibit fast reflexes, unimpaired coordination, and rapid response to stimuli.
  • Not be mentally or physically impaired in a way that adversely affects safe, competent performance.
  • Take prompt and appropriate action in response to operating conditions.
