REPORTING:

This position is responsible to the Housekeeping Supervisor. FLSA STATUS; Non-Exempt ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Clean assignment of resident rooms and bathrooms daily as assigned in accordance with facility procedures Keep resident rooms and contents clean and orderly in accordance with the wishes of the resident Clean other areas of the facility daily as assigned by Housekeeping Supervisor including one or more of the following: Tub/Shower rooms Offices Kitchen Day rooms Activity rooms Halls and lobby Utility rooms Nurses stations Linen areas Treat all residents with dignity and respect when performing duties in resident care areas Be courteous, considerate and cooperative when communicating with all facility personnel, residents and public Practice infection control policies and procedures of the department and facility Secure cleaning chemicals in locked housekeeping cart or closet unless in immediate possession and use Promptly report any needed repairs to Housekeeping Supervisor Perform other housekeeping related tasks as assigned by Housekeeping Supervisor Assist Housekeeping Supervisor with weekly and monthly major housekeeping tasks when requested to do so React appropriately to emergencies and disaster situations Attend in-service education and staff meetings as required Demonstrate knowledge of, and respect for, the rights, dignity and individuality of each resident in all interactions Appreciates the importance of maintaining confidentiality of resident and facility information Demonstrate honesty and integrity at all times in the care and use of resident and facility property Must be neat and clean and well groomed appearance Ability to read, speak and understand English, follow directions and complete the assigned responsibilities of the department Knowledge of basic principles of cleaning and disinfecting Dependability Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: Education: High School graduate or equivalent preferred License: None Work Experience: None Required Housekeeping experience in a long term care facility or as a housekeeper in an institutional setting preferred. Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical information, and to be easily understood through verbal communication in the English language. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, and volume. Must have exceptional communication and customer service skills, and be empathetic.
