Key Responsibilities

• Provides intensive respiratory care and patient transport as medically prescribed, within the scope of professional licensure and with minimal supervision
• Conducts physician-prescribed treatments utilizing invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizer devices to administer prescribed medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation
• Performs arterial puncture, oximetry and capnography monitoring, pulmonary function studies, chest physiotherapy, suctioning, and 12-Lead EKG with basic arrhythmia recognition
• Performs insertion and removal of endotracheal and tracheostomy tubes, assists with bronchoscopy, percutaneous tracheostomies, and chest tube placement procedures
• Performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation according to BLS and ACLS guidelines
• Records all pertinent treatment information and patient responses in respiratory care records and the patient chart; maintains accurate respiratory therapy charging and documentation

Required Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license valid in the state of Ohio
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Ability to operate and maintain a wide range of ventilatory and respiratory care equipment
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and communicate effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with moderate complexity laboratory testing protocols including specimen handling, quality controls, and documentation
• Familiarity with video laryngoscope systems for endotracheal intubation
• Experience with PleurX catheter drainage or similar chest drainage devices
