Job Summary The Internship Coordinator will provide one-on-one and group careeradvising and coaching to undergraduate and graduate students andalumni and is responsible for planning and coordinating theactivities and operations of the department's employee relationsand internship efforts. Career advising and coaching will includebut is not limited to self-awareness and career exploration,interpretation of career assessments, resume, curriculum vitae,cover letter writing, mock interviews, class presentations,professional career transition topics, and job, graduate,professional school search strategies. Each Internship Coordinatorwill assist in the implementation of the Career Planning MilestonesProgram, provide data collection for the First Destination Survey,and assist in the planning and execution of Career Fairs and othernetworking events. Responsibilities Advising - 60% Advise and coach students in one-on-one and group settings(including workshops and class presentations) on variouscareer-related and graduate/professional school planning topics toinclude but not limited to c/v, cover letters and resume reviews,mock interviews, career and major exploration, personal statementreviews, graduate school and professional school applicationprocess, career transition topics, graduate and professional schoolsearch strategies, and shadowing/internships/job searchstrategies. Stay current on trends, resources, research, and recruitmentactivities that impact students' employability, as well as thoseaffecting students applying to graduate and professionalschools. Research career information and resources to assist students withgraduate/professional school planning and careerdecision-making. Liaison - 15% Serves as a liaison with assigned academic departments based ondiscipline clusters to communicate programs, services, and studentneeds. Partners with internal and external partners to connect studentswith additional resources that enhance career development effortsand employability. Disseminate information on graduate and professional schoolpreparation, career development resources and makes appropriatereferrals. Database Management - 10% Manages the electronic internship approval process as well as thedatabase of internships and shadowing opportunities, which includescommunicating with students, faculty, and employers. Special Projects - 10% Internship Coordinators will complete special projects asassigned. These projects may focus on student and employer outreachmarketing, departmental assessment (including internship placementand learning outcomes) and creating in-house publications. Other - 5% Other duties as assigned to support institutional anddepartmental initiatives Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Bachelor's degree. Required Experience Previous work experience in Career Services or related functionalarea. Demonstrated experience creating and presenting educationalworkshops/programs. Required Other Valid Driver's license. Preferred Qualifications Preferred Educational Qualifications Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling,or related field. Preferred Experience At least one year experience advising college students anddelivering career services programs within a higher educationenvironment. Ability to perform various assessments (e.g. MBTI,StrengthsQuest) and operate computerized career guidance systemssuch as Focus2. Proposed Salary This position is a pay grade 7. The minimum salary is $19.58/hour($40,729). Starting salary within this range is based on relevant years of experience. ABILITIES

Ability to use technology for conducting surveys and tracking andmonitoring student progress for completing career developmentplans. Ability to build and maintain successful working relationshipswith students/alumni, faculty/staff, and employers. Capable of multi-tasking and setting priorities within a teamenvironment, and able to identify, select, and implement careercoaching/advising/counseling interventions and techniquesappropriate to student goals.

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of employability skills, student and career developmenttheories and their application in practice, and career developmentresources and practices. Knowledge of career, occupational, and employment information andtrends for guiding students.

SKILLS

Written and verbal communication, teaching, presentation,interpersonal and relationship building skills, proficient inMicrosoft Office programs, and workshop/program planning. Should have strong technology skills related to the area ofcareer counseling/advising including career planning andassessments, job search tools and resources, and graduate/professional school planning (e.g. LinkedIn, Holland Self-DirectedSearch, Occupational Net).
