Structural Project Engineer 1

As a Structural Project Engineer , you will join our Building Services Business Line in our Westfield, MA office, where you’ll play a key role in delivering vital infrastructure projects across the Northeast. Responsibilities Assist on the structural design of vertical projects, including new buildings, renovations, and additions. Design systems utilizing steel, concrete, masonry, and wood to meet applicable codes, loads, and project requirements. Prepare structural drawings, specifications, design reports, and calculation packages using software such as Revit, AutoCAD, and structural analysis tools. Collaborate with architects, MEP engineers, and contractors to integrate structural systems with other building components. Ensure constructability, efficiency, and compatibility across disciplines. Perform design and documentation in accordance with IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, and other relevant building codes and standards. Provide technical support during construction, including reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and performing site visits to verify installation accuracy. Assist in the development of project schedules, scope, and budgets. Work closely with project managers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of structural engineering services. Guide junior engineers and drafters, providing oversight and mentorship on design approach, software use, and technical documentation. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. 5–8 years of experience in structural design and analysis. Proficiency in structural design software such as ETABS, STAAD, SAP2000, or RISA. Strong knowledge of building codes and standards, including IBC, ASCE, AISC, and ACI. Experience in designing multiple structural materials (e.g., steel, concrete, timber). Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. Preferred Requirements Master’s degree in Structural Engineering or a related field. Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward obtaining licensure. Experience with seismic design and performance‑based engineering. Proficiency in BIM software such as Revit. Knowledge of advanced analysis techniques, including finite element modeling. Experience in a variety of project types, including bridges, high‑rises, or industrial facilities.
