Surgical Technologist / LVN/LPN - Full Time

This is a full-time position, 5 days per week, working 8 hours each day. Weekend work includes 1-2 24 hour weekend call shifts per schedule and 1-2 call nights per week.

Job Description

The Surgical Technologist / LVN/LPN performs a variety of technical duties to assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients. This includes preparing patients' skin for surgery in accordance with hospital standards, maintaining aseptic techniques, and providing support and comfort to patients. The role involves transporting patients to and from the operating room suite and positioning them appropriately for surgery. Additionally, this position is responsible for preparing the operating room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to the type of case involved.

Responsibilities

• Assists in all processes related to the delivery of direct patient care in the operating room prior to and during surgical procedures.
• Establishes and maintains a sterile field, passes instruments and sutures to the physician, and assists as directed by the physician.
• Ensures that preference cards are kept up to date and complete.
• Works effectively as a member of the surgical team to care for the patient.
• Maintains a safe environment by implementing technical and aseptic practices.
• Demonstrates clinical expertise in the use and care of all surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Adheres to Universal Barrier Precautions for both patient and staff safety in all patient care situations.
• Performs other duties as assigned, adapted to accommodate unique needs of each patient population served.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a Surgical Technology program or an accredited LVN/LPN program is required.
• BLS certification from AHA is required.
• Certified Surgical Technologist or LVN/LPN License is required.
• 2 or more years of experience preferred.
