Nurse Practitioner - Part-time

Introduction The Thomas B. Finan Center is an inpatient psychiatric hospital located in Cumberland, Maryland. It is owned and managed by the state of Maryland. This state psychiatric facility operates 88 beds and provides services to persons 18 years of age and older. Grade: 23 Location of Position Thomas B. Finan Center 10102 Country Club Road Cumberland, MD 21502 Main Purpose of Job This part‑time contractual Nurse Practitioner II position will provide primary medical service to the patients of the Thomas B. Finan Center and its residents in the Assisted Living Program. Responsibilities include performing admission histories, physical examinations, and ordering admission laboratory tests. Responsibilities Provide primary medical services to patients and residents. Perform admission history and physical examinations. Order and interpret admission laboratory tests. Minimum Qualifications Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses under the certification requirements for Nurse Practitioner or Nurse‑Midwife. Experience: One year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or as a Nurse‑Midwife. Note: Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the Nurse Practitioner or Nurse‑Midwife classification on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience. Licenses, Registrations and Certifications Current certificate as a Nurse Practitioner or as a Nurse Midwife from the Maryland State Board of Nursing. Employees may be assigned duties requiring a motor vehicle; a valid Maryland driver’s license is required for such duties. Special Requirements Employees may be subject to call and, therefore, must provide a telephone number at which they can be reached. Benefits Contractual employees who meet the eligibility criteria may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. The State of Maryland subsidizes 75% of the cost while the employee pays 25% of premiums for medical and prescription coverage. Employees may also elect additional coverage options at full cost. Leave may be granted at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, up to 40 hours per calendar year.
