Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make an impact supporting students in special education classrooms for the upcoming school year. This is a contract opportunity working within dedicated elementary and middle school environments designed for maximum student growth and care. Located in the region near Athens, this role offers a rewarding structure for credentialed special education professionals.
Qualifications & Required Experience:
- Active Georgia SPED teaching license with appropriate endorsements
- ADAPTIVE SPED CERT for North Jackson Elementary assignment
- SPED GENERAL CURRICULUM CERT for West Jackson Middle School roles
- Previous experience supporting students with high physical and academic needs strongly preferred
- Capable of fostering a supportive, growth-oriented classroom for students on the autism spectrum (ranging from Level 1 to Level 3)
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction in a self-contained setting for either elementary students with complex needs (Autism Level 3) or middle school students requiring ASD Level 1/adaptive support
- Utilize specialized teaching strategies and adaptive curricula to encourage progress and independence
- Collect and interpret student data to develop, implement, and adjust individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate closely with school staff, other special educators, therapists, and support providers
- Uphold a positive, safe, and productive classroom environment for every learner
