Senior Software Engineer, Data Platform

Role Description

We are currently seeking an ambitious pace-setter to join our team as a Senior Software Engineer, Data Platform, remotely in the US. iFIT's Data Services team builds the backend systems and data pipelines behind the core entities that power Fitness Journeys across our mobile apps and connected equipment.

• Build the data platform behind individualized fitness by designing systems that learn what each member loves and serve personalized recommendations.
• Ship the backend for an AI coach that powers AI-generated, adaptive workout plans that adjust in real time.
• Turn every workout into insight by building pipelines that transform raw, real-time workout telemetry into AI-generated summaries and trends.
• Deliver data in real time, at scale, by owning low-latency streaming systems that move live workout data across millions of connected machines and apps.
• Re-architect core systems for the next order of magnitude by leading the modernization of foundational data pipelines and integrations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and operating production backend services.
• Deep proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript, with strong fundamentals in API design (REST/GraphQL) and service architecture.
• Hands-on AI development experience with modern AI tooling and incorporating AI/LLM capabilities into real systems.
• Proven ownership of data-intensive or event-driven systems, including streaming and ingestion pipelines.
• Experience operating systems on AWS, including Lambda, ECS, S3, RDS/Postgres, and managing infrastructure as code with Terraform.
• A track record of reliability ownership, including SLOs, monitoring, and incident response.
• Strong design and written communication skills.
• A member-first mindset regarding technical decisions.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Requirements

• Lead large, multi-milestone initiatives from design through delivery.
• Produce durable, defensible architecture considering cost, reliability, and maintainability.
• Build AI into engineering practices and identify high-value places for AI-powered systems.
• Own reliability and operations: define SLOs, observability, and alerting.
• Design, provision, and operate your own infrastructure on AWS.
• Protect data correctness through strong schema, versioning, and API-contract discipline.
• Raise the bar on code quality and testing, and act as an escalation point for technical decisions.
• Partner closely with mobile, web, and equipment teams to design clean, debuggable client-facing contracts.

Benefits

• Compensation may vary based on job level, geographic work location, position incentive plan, and exemption status.
• Pay Range: $130,000 — $160,000 USD.
