We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to support accurate and timely payroll operations in Memphis, Tennessee. This position plays an important role in reviewing pay data, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring employees are paid correctly in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and comfortable handling confidential information while assisting with payroll questions and administrative reporting.

Responsibilities:
• Process bi-weekly payroll activities by reviewing time and pay data, preparing payroll transactions, and helping ensure timely and accurate employee payments.
• Examine payroll records for accuracy, reconcile reported and system-generated hours, and update entries when corrections or adjustments are needed.
• Calculate overtime, shift differentials, tax withholdings, garnishments, and other earnings or deduction changes in compliance with established guidelines.
• Respond to employee and stakeholder questions related to pay, deductions, and payroll procedures, and investigate paycheck discrepancies to reach timely resolutions.
• Prepare and maintain payroll-related documentation, including tax filings, year-end forms, vendor payments, and other records required for reporting and compliance.
• Generate payroll reports, compile supporting data, and use computer systems to organize information, create summaries, and produce administrative documentation.
• Provide payroll verification information to authorized external agencies and support requests for employee pay records as required.
• Assist with departmental coverage during staff absences, manage incoming mail for the payroll function, and report equipment issues or supply needs to leadership.
• Protect the confidentiality of employee compensation information and complete required training and other assigned projects or duties as needed.• Experience supporting payroll processing in an environment handling approximately 101 to 500 employees.
• Working knowledge of full-cycle payroll practices, including earnings, deductions, taxes, and payroll adjustments.
• Familiarity with garnishments, overtime calculations, and other special pay considerations.
• Ability to review payroll data carefully, identify inconsistencies, and make accurate corrections in a timely manner.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to answer payroll-related questions clearly and professionally.
• Proficiency with computer-based payroll systems, data entry, and report preparation.
• Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and maintain organized payroll records.
