Under general supervision, the Material Handler I safely packages and moves raw materials, finished goods, scrap materials, equipment and any other miscellaneous materials within the plant to support Manufacturing Department, Warehouse, Lab, Maintenance, and Inventory Accuracy. This position reports the status of all work to the leader.

Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Packages all finished good products with correct packaging materials, labels, and details, per customer specifications.
• Follows schedule/instructions for materials to be moved, where to move, and how often.
• Operates all powered industrial vehicles (PIV's) and other equipment to assist with material handling.
• Secures proper lifting attachments to PIV's to move materials properly and safely.
• Loads and unloads materials on pallets in and out of the designated packaging area and warehouse racks in a safe manner.
• Organizes and stores materials in an efficient manner including attaching identifying labels to materials.
• Records all materials movements into Syteline/WMS using a barcode scanner.
• Participates and supports Warehouse 6S and PPI initiatives and/or programs.
• Maintains clean and organized work areas and PIV's.
• Participates 100% in year-end full physical inventory count.
• Maintains and prepares packaging supplies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Skillsets:

• Ability to read and interpret documents and follow instructions.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision.
• Ability to use a computer; (e.g. Word, Excel, Internet and manufacturing software).
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers.
• Ability to communicate effectively with workers and supervisor.
• Ability to deal with problems and non-standardized situations with multiple variables.

Preferred Education & Skillsets:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Prior warehouse experience.
• Prior use of PIV's.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee must:

• Be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
• Be able to push or pull heavy objects up to 250 pounds.
• Be able to work 12-hour shifts.
• Perform repetitive tasks.
• Routinely stand, sit, hear, walk, and talk.
• Reach, climb, bend, kneel, crouch, twist and balance; sometimes in awkward or tight spaces.
• Have good close vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
• Meet Mativ certification requirements to operate PIV's.

PPE Requirements: Employees are required to wear Personal Protective Equipment including:

• Safety shoes (steel toe or composite toe)
• Safety Glasses
• Bump Caps
• Protective Gloves; when performing certain tasks
• Hearing Protection; when required
• Other personal protective equipment as required for certain tasks

Work Environment:

• Conditions are that of a manufacturing environment.
• Air Temperatures can range from cold to hot
• Atmosphere may contain dust, fumes and odors
• May include mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive and radiation hazards

The starting rate for this role is $20.00 per hour.
