Position Summary The Prep Cook is responsible for the preparation of a variety of foods and ingredients to ensure the highest quality and resident satisfaction and maintains cleanliness of food services areas. Responsibilities Apply sanitation and safety techniques while working. Prepare and produce ingredients and menu items as assigned. Cook meals according to menus, recipes, and dietary restrictions. Measure and mix food ingredients according to recipes and menus. Apply portion control during preparation and service of all diets. Clean and maintain kitchen facilities and equipment per schedules and procedures. Communicate any changes or substitutions on daily menus to the supervisor. Ensure proper labeling, dating, and rotation of foods in storage areas. Work in accordance with safety guidelines. Familiarize with food service disaster plan. Compensation Starting pay ranges from $18.15 per hour to $22.10 per hour, with factors such as scope, responsibilities, experience, education, job-related skills, internal equity, and market considerations potentially influencing base pay. Qualifications Education: High school graduate or GED. Training and Experience: Previous food service experience preferred. Serve Safe certification desired. Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of safe food handling and preparation. Knowledge of good practices to avoid waste and misuse. Ability to present foods attractively and palatable and to test quality by taste and smell. Broad knowledge of breakfast, lunch, and dinner entree preparation. Broad knowledge of scratch soups, sauces/gravies, starches, and vegetables.
