- Consistently adheres to all departmental policies and procedures
- Maintains high level of patient confidentiality according to HIPPA and company standards
- Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with rules and regulations
- Exercises excellent customer service by greeting and assisting all patients and visitors with pickups, transactions, and consultations regarding their medications
- Answers phone calls and requests of patients, healthcare providers, and medical facilities
- Processes all prescribed medications and ensures all information is accurate and complete
- Organizes medications and prepares prescriptions for dispensing by the pharmacists by retrieving, reading medication orders, preparing labels, calculating quantities, counting, pouring, weighing and at times mixing medications
- Supports the Pharmacy by stocking, assembling, and distributing medications
- Maintains records by recording and filing medical providers prescription and orders
- Enters data in computer system, recording all prescriptions, purchase orders, requisitions, and disbursements
- Maintains and monitors Pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level, anticipating medication and supplies, placing, and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and disposing of expired drugs
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and assessment skills
- Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cohesively with a team or independently and build relationships with staff and external partners
- Ability to operate different equipment such as computers, scan guns and cash registers
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medication, and dosage measurement
- Basic mathematical functions in all units of measurement
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Effective computer skills
- Supply inventory management skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; college credit or additional education in medical field or insurance and billing courses preferred
- Pharmacy Technician registration/certification in New Jersey
- Have a minimum of 1 year experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service field
- Bilingual English and Spanish preferred
Salary Description
$17.50-$22.61 per hour
