Financial Analyst - Investor Reporting Automation

Duration: 6+ Months

Location: Remote

We are seeking a Functional / Financial Analyst to support quarterly investor and consultant reporting while helping transition a manual, Excel-heavy process into a scalable automated operating model.

Key responsibilities

Investor reporting and analysis

• Prepare, maintain, and review investor and consultant questionnaires, supporting working files, and recurring quarterly reporting deliverables.
• Analyze and reconcile financial, fund, portfolio, investor, and performance data across multiple source files and systems.
• Validate data and calculations related to balance sheets, capital roll-forwards, NOI, cap rates, debt maturities, WALT/WALv, dividend yield, fund-status reporting, investor activity, and property-level metrics.
• Create and enhance financial reports, management reporting, portfolio-performance analyses, and dashboard-ready datasets for Finance, Fund Operations, Portfolio Management, and investor-reporting stakeholders.
• Perform actual-versus-budget, actual-versus-prior-period, forecast, and variance analysis; investigate material movements, data anomalies, and missing or inconsistent information.
• Trace reported values from final questionnaires and reports through working files to the underlying source data, ensuring outputs are accurate, transparent, and auditable.
• Review Excel formulas, lookups, roll-ups, and aggregations to identify broken links, incorrect calculations, zero-value errors, outdated templates, or inconsistent prior-quarter carry-forward treatment.
• Support the appropriate treatment of reporting exceptions, including restricted disclosures, pref-equity positions, consultant-specific requirements, and property-level data limitations.
• Review recurring and ad-hoc investor and consultant inquiries, surveys, and questionnaires related to operational and financial information with the aptitude to understand the request, organize the data collection between teams, and provide the deliverable with appropriate information, ensuring consistency with past reporting and appropriate disclosures.
• Produce quarterly investor reports in Workiva by working closely with Portfolio Management, Fund Administrator, Asset Management, and other teams to assemble and process operational and financial data required for disclosure purposes.
• Assist with reviewing processing capital calls, distributions and other investor communications.
• Maintain accuracy of data for their assigned commingled funds and/or separate accounts and investors in the Juniper Square investor portal.
• Liaise with other FFO team members to implement process efficiencies that ensure consistency, scalability and ensure best practices are adopted across the team and firm.
• Manage the data flow and reporting framework to ensure timely, accurate, and relevant communications to investors
• Perform other essential duties as assigned.

Automation and functional support

• Document and rationalize existing SOPs, questionnaire templates, source files, business rules, exceptions, approvals, and submission requirements.
• Convert manual reporting processes into functional specifications, including field-level source mappings, calculation logic, transformation rules, disclosure requirements, acceptance criteria, and test scenarios.
• Partner with business stakeholders to resolve ambiguous requirements and inconsistencies across SOPs, prior submissions, working files, and source systems.
• Support the conversion of reporting processes into automated workflows, including Excel-based automation, AI-enabled reporting tools, and QA controls.
• Independently test and validate automated questionnaires and working files, confirming accuracy of figures, formulas, source linkages, formatting, disclosures, and template versions before business review.
• Help establish QA controls to identify missing values, broken source links, formula errors, incorrect roll-ups, unexpected variances, invalid templates, and submission-blocking macro issues.
• Coordinate source-data collection and validation from Yardi, Fund Status Reports, investor logs, master files, performance reporting, Portfolio Management inputs, SharePoint, and prior-quarter submissions.
• Maintain documentation for SOPs, field mappings, business rules, test results, known issues, approvals, and change history.
• Act as a functional liaison between reporting stakeholders, data owners, and automation delivery teams, tracking dependencies, risks, defects, and reporting-cycle deliverables.

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in financial analysis, investor reporting, fund operations, fund accounting, investment operations, real estate finance, or financial-systems business analysis.
• Advanced Excel skills, including XLOOKUP, SUMIF/SUMIFS, INDEX/MATCH, PivotTables, formula auditing, data validation, error checking, reconciliation, and complex workbook review.
• Experience creating, analyzing, and explaining financial reports, recurring management reporting, performance analyses, and dashboard-ready datasets.
• Strong understanding of financial statements, reconciliations, financial-reporting concepts, variance analysis, period-over-period analysis, and reporting controls.
• Ability to interpret real estate financial and operating metrics, including revenue, expenses, NOI, cash flow, debt, cap rates, valuation inputs, fund-level performance, capital activity, and investor reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to trace financial outputs to their underlying source data and explain calculation, aggregation, and reporting logic.
• Experience documenting business processes and converting requirements into functional specifications, field mappings, workflow diagrams, user stories, test cases, or acceptance criteria.
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple time-sensitive deliverables during quarterly reporting cycles.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work with both business stakeholders and technical delivery teams.
• Ability to handle confidential investor, fund, portfolio, and financial information with discretion.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in private real estate, private equity real estate, private credit, real assets, alternative investments, fund administration, or institutional investor reporting.
• Familiarity with investor and consultant questionnaires, due-diligence reporting, fund-performance reporting, capital-account activity, NAV-related reporting, and capital roll-forwards.
• Experience with Yardi, eFront, Argus, MRI, or comparable real estate accounting, investment-management, or performance-reporting systems.
• Familiarity with property budgets, forecasts, operating statements, debt schedules, valuation reports, asset-management reporting, and real estate investment-performance metrics such as IRR, MOIC/equity multiple, cash-on-cash return, and yield.
• Experience working with SharePoint, Asana, Jira, Smartsheet, enterprise data warehouses, reporting data marts, or governed data sources.
