Sales Support Specialist - Retail

Under the general direction of the VP of Retail, provide immediate support to the Grocery Sales Team. Process large volume of sales calls, data and order entry. Assist Grocery team by generating pricing updates, maintain communication with customers and coordinate and schedule appointments as needed. Aid with the coordination, development and implementation of Marketing and/or Merchandising programs for overall sales and POS Material for retail customer/accounts to enhance the brand and image. Recognize need and create necessary tools for Grocery team to manage their accounts. Provide education/training support regarding the care of seafood products to ensure the highest quality seafood, to set eye appealing seafood displays to ensure customer confidence, provide customer service techniques such as suggestive selling, preparation suggestions, and knowledge of seafood. Maintain communications and support to successfully update and maintain FSMA 204 compliance and Traceability data, to include, but not limited to data entry, maintaining data integrity and supply chain communication and follow-up.

Duties:

1. Process a large volume of sales calls to existing retail customers, generate and process orders into the canopy system.

2. Maintain continual communication with the Grocery team to develop and achieve improved sales and gross profit percentages.

3. Build relationships with existing accounts to increase invoice averages.

4. Review department needs and inter-departmental communication and recommend policy and procedure revisions as needed.

5. Provide assistance with establishing marketing goals, plans, and objectives.

6. Provide technical support for current computer programs and extend support to the team. Recognize needs and, using computerized tools and software programs, create necessary tools for team to manage business.

7. Provide sampling support to the Grocery Accounts to increase consumer awareness

8. Provide training/education to Grocery Accounts including seafood knowledge, suggestive selling, presentation of attractive displays, care of seafood for quality and freshness, and ideas for preparation/cooking seafood.

9. Review, analyze, and highlight trends in the retail seafood category through company market reports, seafood business magazines, and internet to be able to answer questions and address problems in seafood departments.

10. Maintain communication and support surrounding the ever changing Federal requirements of food safety data to include but not limited to FSMA 204 Compliance and Traceability programs. This will include but not limited to data collection, entry and supply chain communication as deemed necessary.

11. Use independent judgement and discretion in carrying out these and other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Experience: At least three years of experience in assisting a team of highly skilled staff in a fast-paced environment. Experience in a retail environment is preferred.

Skills & Abilities: High-level skills necessary in complex word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and desktop publishing software. Analytical and oral/written communication skills including the ability to write clear and effective correspondence and other materials. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of a diverse organization. Political acumen, tact, discretion, and judgment. Demonstrated ability to produce results, working in committees and teams. Attention to detail. Demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness, and creativity in problem solving. Ability to work independently, set priorities, research and resolve problems and follow-through on projects/assignments with minimal direction.
